FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
THE CURIOOS WEBSITE
What is Curioos for?

Created to prove that digital images are real art, Curioos is a meeting place for artists, art collectors, curators, and art lovers.

For artists, Curioos is a place where your work can be seen and sold, but also a place where you can find inspiration though the work of other artists from around the world.

For digital art lovers, you can view the latest/hottest creations emerging from the digital art scene. Become a curator: bookmark your favorite pieces, follow artists from around the world, and purchase limited edition prints.

How can I register on Curioos?

That depends...

Any art lover can become a “curator” with just a few clicks. Click on the sign up button in the upper, right-hand corner found on every page. After filling in some basic info and creating a username, you will have a curator account.

If you’d like to create an artist account in order to showcase and sell your work, you’ll need an invitation from either us here at Curioos or from another artist.

If you’re an artist and would like more information on how to get an invitation, scroll down to see How the invitation system works section.

Soon art lovers with curator accounts will be able to upgrade to an artist account.

What’s the difference between an artist account and a curator account?

As a curator, you are able to bookmark artworks with a simple “like”, follow artists, and leave comments; your profile page is your own place of curation. You can also buy certified, limited edition prints.

As an artist, you will be able to showcase your work, get inspiration from other artists work, and leave comments. You can also sell your work in limited edition prints if you are featured in a Curioos collection.

How does the invitation system works?

There are two ways for artists to receive invitations to create profiles on Curioos:

1. Artists who are already on Curioos are able to send invitations to other digital artists so they too can feature their artwork. Each artist is given invitations to send out on the 1st of every month. You can reach them via Curioos, Twitter & Facebook.

2. Curioos sends out invitations regularly to artists whose work we would love to have on our site. You can also request an invitation by submitting a piece of your artwork through our Tumblr blog.

FOR ARTISTS
How can I upload on Curioos?

Our uploading process is quick and easy- Simply go to the + add image link in the upper right-hand corner of your account page, click on the blue + upload button on the following page, and then select your file from your saved documents.
Maximum size of 2Mo. JPG, GIF, or PNG please!

How can I get printed?

Firstly, you have to have an artist’s account on Curioos. However, not all artists are able to sell their prints. Our selling artists are carefully selected by a jury (a guest curator and Curioos).
Also, you must be certain that the piece you’d like to sell isn’t being sold anywhere else and that the resolution of the work is sufficient to print.

What is the file resolution required for printing?

That depends on the size of the print. See the available sizes for printing as well as their sizing specifications below.

40" x 56" <-> 100 x 140 cm <-> 12000 x 16800 pixels (300 dpi),
28" x 40" <-> 70 x 100 cm <-> 8400 x 12000 pixels (300 dpi),
20" x 28" <-> 50 x 70 cm <-> 6000 x 8400 pixels (300 dpi),
16" x 20" <-> 40 x 50 cm <-> 4800 x 6000 pixels (300 dpi).

What kind of paper do we use?

High quality prints are a result from high quality paper. We use three widely-known, superb-quality, paper brands, Hahnemühle®, Canson®, and Museo®.

Hahnemühle - Since 1584, the German paper mill Hahnemühle has been producing some of the highest-quality paper products for both traditional and digital art. We pride ourselves in using three of their paper types from their Digital FineArt Collection. All three guarantee archival standards by meeting the highest industry standards regarding density, color gamut, color graduation, and image sharpness

Canson - As a sponsor to the Louvre, the French paper company Canson has a well-known reputation of quality. We are proud to uphold this reputation by using two of their papers, Montval Aquarelle and Baryta Photographique. From soft, subtle tones to deep, dark density, Canson has it covered.

Museo - Museo Portfolio Rag is a 100% cotton, internally buffered paper with an extra smooth matte finish. Whether bold or subtle, black and white or colored, the remarkable versatility of Museo paper is perfect for almost any project.

What kind of printer do we use?

To ensure unrivaled precision, we use the latest generation in the Epson series of printers, the Stylus Pro® 9900. Coupled with Epson UltraChrome® HDR 11-color ink, our printer is able to produce the widest color gamut ever of any printer in its line. This means that we are able to stay as true as printably possible to your works original colors.

THE DIGITAL ART PUBLISHING HOUSE
What is it?

Our Digital Art Publishing House here in Paris is an exclusive collection of works selected by top curators for their uniqueness. What is selected by our Publishing House is a reflection of our artist’s creativity and is not available anywhere else in the world.

What does the term “limited edition” mean anyways?

Limited edition simply means that only a set number of prints of a particular piece of artwork are going to be sold. In our contract, Curioos makes an agreement with our artists to sell a set number of each sized print and to close the sale when the prints sell out. To guarantee the value of the print, a closed sale remains closed forever.

Why are Curioos prints stamped and delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity?

The Curioos stamp is an imprint of our logo into the matting of the print. This discrete impression is our way of certifying that the print sold is indeed an authentic print from Curioos.

As another measure of guaranteeing authenticity, Curioos sends a certificate with every print which lets the buyer know the number of their print in the limited edition series. This ensures the buyer the originality and rarity of their purchase.

FOR COLLECTORS
How do I buy a print?

If you see a BUY button it means the print is for sale. Not all of the prints on Curioos are, however.

What is the “request a print” button for?

If you find a certain artwork that you’d like to purchase but it’s not for sale, we encourage you to let the artist know. This also helps us decide which pieces to consider for sale in the future.

How can I pay?

Paypal® for the moment, but thanks to Paypal® you can also use your Visa®, Master Card®, American Express®, and more.

What do I do if I made a mistake with my personal/shipping information?

No worries, just drop us an e-mail with the corrections and we’ll take care of the rest.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERING PROCESS
How long will it take to receive my order after?

Around 10 to 15 days. If this seems a bit long to you, please remember that it’s because we take our time to carefully print, frame, and prepare for shipping ever piece of artwork we sell. It’s worth the wait!

Curioos shipping costs seem rather pricey, how come?

To ensure top quality from printing to packing, we oversee every detail ourselves in Paris, France. As we don’t currently have any other locations, shipment costs are more expensive.
There are no additional taxes when shipping to the USA.

What is Curioos return policy?

On a case-by-case basis, we take care of every return inquiry. If you are not totally satisfied with our service, just let us know as soon as possible. We aim to make Curioos a pleasant and trouble-free experience.

If you want to have more details, take a look to the terms & conditions of sale here.

I haven’t received my order yet? What should I do?

A delivery date is indicated in the order confirmation email. If you haven’t receive your Artwork at that date, please contact us here.

In the event that a delivery is over seven days late with regard to the delivery date initially indicated in the order confirmation email, and this not justified by force majeure, you can cancel your order by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, sent to this address: 17 Cité Aubry 75020 Paris. You can obtain a full refund of the sums paid within thirty days, to the exclusion of all other compensation.

What should I do if my print is damaged during shipping?

Don’t be mad at us, and tell us what is wrong with your Artwork here.

We will organize and pay for the return of your Artwork. After a quick verification we will offer to repair or replace your Artwork.

If repair or replacement of your Artwork is not possible, we will offer to refund you the full price paid for your Artwork as well as the related delivery charges.

Does Curioos have any recommendations on conserving the quality of my print?

The good news is that Curioos prints outlast many of our competitors. However, it’s always best to keep your print out of direct sunlight and in a place that’s not too hot or humid. Framing is always a good option to protect it from dust, water damage, and tears.

Does Curioos ever send its members newsletters?

Yes we do. But don’t worry, it’s not spam! We only send out quality information to keep you up-to-date on the latest Curioos happenings. We’re not going to share your e-mail address or personal information with anyone either-we’re possessive like that :)
