Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo

Alvaro was born in a Viñadel Mar, Chile. In 2000 he began working in graphic design and filmmaking. He has directed two short films, Corte Carnicero and Cabezon Delator, and has also created a series of Works in experimental video, animation and motiongraphics. Alvaro founded a design agency in Valparaiso, Chile (2005), worked as Art Director for a marketing agency in Madrid (2007), and is currently working in illustration. Alvaro is mainly interested in film icons, especially classic characters from horror films. He also likes to create his own interpretations of artist’s portraits from many disciplines such as writing and music. From medical and scientific imagery from the 40’s & 50’s to today’s urban culture, Alvaro believes that any stimuli can be a source of inspiration for his work.
