Sassy Pin-ups

Sassy Pin-ups

The tradition of pin-up posters dates back to the early 1900’s when glamour models and actresses were first featured in playful attire and eye-catching poses. Through photo manipulation, digital illustration, and intricate collage work, Brazilian graphic designer Marcel Lisboa has created a collection of pin-ups just as sassy as the very first posters to roll off the press. With diverse passions for music, photography, Renaissance art and pop culture, Marcel attempts to unify classic styles with modern ones. Old books, publicity illustrations, and pin-ups are just a few examples of the vintage media which propels his creative process and serves as inspiration. Marcel’s works have been featured in exhibitions in many places throughout Brazil - the most recent currently being held in the “Urban Arts” gallery in São Paulo. His works have also been published in magazines such as “Computer Arts Brazil” and in “Abril Publisher”. Although traditional pin-ups are meant to be pinned literally on a wall, Marcel’s cheeky pin-up girls can also be found on diverse decorative supports, including framed prints, thus assuring that the tradition of pin-up girls is one tradition that will never go out of style.
