About this Artwork
ancestors of the Yorkshire terrier were species of hunting terrier-rat-catchers that lived on the territory of England many years ago. Farmers and workers suffered greatly from rats and other small rodents. To get big dogs the local authorities did not allow, so people took small terriers home. The result of the selection was a small hunting dog weighing about seven kilograms, capable of destroying small rodents. The terrier owes its wide distribution to the British sailors.
