      About this Artwork

The Anāhata Chakra, or the Heart Chakra (which is the green lotus-like symbol in the background), is located in the region of the heart or center of the chest, and this Chakra is the seat of love. Just as love is infinite, so too is the Anāhata Chakra. The extent of radiance of this Chakra depends upon the depths of our relationships. When our hearts open to divine love, our love becomes divine and infinite. The Anāhata Chakra is the center of your deep bonds with other beings, your sense of caring and compassion, your feelings of self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness, and respect. The energy of this Chakra allows us to recognize that we are part of something larger, that we are interconnected within an intricate web of relationships extending through life and the universe. The Anāhata Chakra's Bija Mantra is "Yam." Bija, which means "seed," are one-syllable sounds that, when said aloud, activate the energy of the Chakra in order to purify and balance the mind, body, and spirit. When you speak the Bija mantras, you resonate with the energy of the associated Chakra. The Anāhata Chakra's Bija symbol is shown here in my drawing over the woman's pregnant belly. This was a drawing inspired by many things, and the more aware, educated, and knowledgeable of a person I become, the more I feel connected with others, the planet, and the universe itself. Being 36 weeks pregnant at the time of this drawing, I too feel a deeper connection to life itself. The symbol in the center of the woman's head represents the third eye, often referred to as the pineal gland and associated with the 6th Chakra, The third eye is associated with intuition, imagination, and wisdom. The triangle in the background points directly above the woman to the 7th Chakra, or the Crown Chakra, which is associated with consciousness, inner and outer beauty, our connection to the universe and spirituality, and pure bliss.
