This composition was made "digitally by hand" in Procreate for iPad Pro, between Dec. 31, 2021, and Feb. 1, 2022. The "tracked time" for this piece was 153 hours, 35 minutes, which is an underestimate of the total "lived" time of my work on this. But seems reasonable enough to convey the (excessive) amount of time this took me to complete. To make this, I adapted an illustration of a human skull from Gray's Anatomy. The piece is constructed by two sets of concentric loops that overlap in some areas and reflect in others, to create areas of single and double density. I approached this piece as closely to how I would with a direct-to-paper method, however I did take advantage of such digital conveniences as the undo button and occasionally hiding a layer to navigate through the tangle of lines. As such, the loops do not expand independently as they should. However, the process was still informative to how it would evolve on paper I had the idea for this composition at least a couple weeks before I actually started working on it. It seemed to be an idea that insisted on its own realization. It seems the idea is not finished with me.
