I started to draw a sexual illustrations because somebody asked me for the column about sex. It wasn’t easy to talk about sex in Korean culture. However, I was interesting for me to do that job in the conservative culture because I could feel a pleasant feeling to break the taboo. There was a limitation, because it was a magazine for a university students. And some trouble from one of columns which talked about the religion, my job in there was stopped. But I was attached to that work, so I started this Trump-card series project. I wanted to reanalyze a British Pin-up-girl Card series that my friend received as a gift into modern style. I thought I could add many subjects into the concept of trump card. I thought if I mixed the trump card with a subculture, I could make a good result. And I thought the trump card was a great item to appreciate a work because we can play game with that while we enjoy the pictures. These sexy card series have been made according to the numbers as well as the characters. From my experience from living abroad in many countries, I wanted to frankly express the sexual elements that every culture has within. Even though the pictures might look erotic, finding the hidden stories of these pictures will help people frankly think what sex is about. As an experiment, I showed some of my work to my female colleagues and at first they were a bit uneasy but when I told them to look carefully and told them about the story about the picture there became very interested. I hope that people enjoy the presence of each other when they play the card game.
