This colourful oil painting shows a romantic view of the Grand Canal in Venice at dusk. The famous canal stretches out in the foreground, its deep blue water reflecting the warm colours of the sky and the surrounding buildings. The small boats lend life and movement to the scene. The characteristic Venetian palaces and houses line both sides of the canal.
