Ganymede was a handsome Trojan prince who was carried off by Zeus in the form of an eagle and brought to mount Olympus to become the cup-bearer of the gods. In exchange for the prince's services Zeus gave his father, Tros, horses of Aeneas that could run over water. Eventually, Ganymede becomes fed up with his duties and pours out all the wine, ambrosia, and water of the gods, quitting his position of cup-bearer. The liquids which fell to Earth caused the great flood. Zeus was enraged at Ganymede, but in a extremely rare moment of reflection realized that his own actions were the cause of all the trouble, and so, made Ganymede immortal and gave him the position representing the Zodiac Aquarius.
