The main breed of Maine Coon cats is the United States, it is typical and one of the oldest cat breeds in America. Maine Coon’s birthplace is believed to be in Maine farms, the Northeastern United States. At first, only one Maine Coon color was recognized - black tabby. Due to their large size, large fluffy tail and color, these cats were considered similar to raccoons. This similarity with raccoons gave the name to this breed, which consists of two parts, and if "maine" refers to Maine, then "kun" is a truncated part of the word "raccoon", which means "raccoon".
