Looking up is not what we do most of the time. The sky is sometimes translated into a visual phenomenon that demands attention. The foreground, earth, can become insignificant when the background becomes the focal point. It can happen in an instance, a fleeting moment, transforming back to the background again. The Sky images are vistas, spanning a much wider view than what the eye can perceive at that moment. The absence of scale reference, which is normally assisted by a known object in the landscape, places the viewer in a scene that seems commonplace, but one that is not possible unless we scan the phenomena from left to right, above and below. This visual experience from the sky series attempts to place us in a liminal space, somewhere between heaven and earth. The image is digitally stitched together from many overlapping photographs shot consecutively to capture the fast-changing cloud movements.
