    About this Artwork

    En 1900, la fin de la Guerre d’Indépendance a lieu sur le sol Cubain. Les Espagnols sont défaits et les Américains sont triomphants. Dans un bar de La Havane, un officier commande un cocktail qui fait fureur à cette époque, un savoureux mélange de rhum, de Cola et de citron vert. Pour trinquer avec ses copains, il prononce alors ce qui était le cri de ralliement des soldats américains pendant la Guerre : Por Cuba Libre ! C’est de cette histoire qu’est né le nom d’un cocktail qui n’aura de cesse d’être célébré autant dans la littérature que dans le cinéma. Quand Cuba devient une base arrière de la consommation d’alcool pour les américains durant la Prohibition, le cocktail explose et devient légendaire.
