Cultes des Goules appeared in 1703, and was said to be the work of François-Honoré Balfour (sometimes given as Francois Honoré-Balfour), the Comte d'Erlette. The book discussed a cult dedicated to necromancy and necrophagy that existed at the time in France. The rites and practices of the cult were described in detail, and included black magic and necrophilia. The members of this group were referred to as "goules". After publication, it was immediately denounced by the Church and state, though the author's aristocratic status protected him from prosecution. No evidence of the cult was ever found. The Plastic Wax Factory, purveyors of intricate and fine molten effigies. All your gods, demons, devils, angels, monsters and feye folk, creatures of the abyss to Leech Lords of the Cthulhu mythos, witches, warlocks, and lunatic residents of asylums the world over still murmuring their arcane incantations. All are represented here in glorious molten plastic wax, set alight and melted into puddles of primordial grotesquerie.
