To escape King Minos of Crete, Daedalus constructed a pair of wings for himself and his son Icarus, but warned his son not to fly too near the sun lest it melted the wax holding the wings together. Alas, Icarus did not heed his father's warning and crashed into the sea now bearing his name. Oil on Board.
