About this Artwork
This Prince painting is from the Forever Young series. These portraits are about people who never get old because of their young death. they are engraved in our collective memory as they looked around the time of death or as on photos that are still occasionally shown in the media or can be found on the internet. Is the memory and source material realistic or do they show us a feasible idealized person?
Prince was an American pop artist in the funk and rock tradition. In addition to being a singer, composer, guitarist, keyboardist and bassist, he was a dancer, record producer, film director and actor. Prince was known as a very productive workaholic and an innovator in pop music. He sold more than one hundred and fifty million singles and albums, won seven Grammy Awards, an Oscar for the song Purple Rain and a Golden Globe.
