About this Artwork
The working title, My Face is Gaffered On, was a reference to gaffer tape, and emotionally holding the proverbial stuff upper lip when underneath you are deep in a swelling emotional wave. It was an intrusive thought and phrase that came somewhere in the mid-stage of this, as feeling like having to apply a blank or otherwise neutral façade when everything is somewhere between constant low level tension and coruscating bouts of existential dread…such is the magic of middle age self-awareness I suppose.
