About this Artwork
This is the first in a series depicting the evolution of fashion within the Igbo women of South-Eastern Nigeria while they were undergoing violent colonization. Before the people were invaded, most Igbo women stood actively on the line between femininity and community defense, acting both as mothers and warriors.
