      About this Artwork

Its hard to believe that one of the greatest animated shows in history has reached this milestone. Despite its short and abrupt 2 season run, it still manages to captivate audiences of all generations, especially how their legacy continued to live on through the Archie Comics for an additional 20+ years. But even when Archie was cancelled in 2017, the fan community continued to produce fantastic artwork, provocative fanfics and even impressive animations to show their love for these endearing characters and engaging stories. Hopefully that SatAM Revival thats been in development these past few years finally comes to fruition. To commemorate this monumental event, Ive meticulously crafted a poster that not only pays homage to the series, but to SEGA, the classic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, DiC Entertainment, ABC Network AND...the EARLY 90s in general! This celebratory poster is literally PACKED to the brim with easter eggs that recaptures the vibe of this era. Basically, its a massive scavenger hunt of nostalgia consisting of popular and obscure references that only kids who grew up in the early 90s will truly remember. Some official, some being original designs I created. The narrative here conveys an established lived in world from the perspective of a preteen/early teen Sega fanboy that utilizes a retro aesthetic which was mostly seen in the old ABC print ads that youd find in various comic books or Disney Adventures magazine. I invested nearly 4 months brainstorming and designing this concept to ensure everything depicted was accurate. Even to when that particular scene of SatAM aired shown on the screen which reflects the time of the morning sunrise. So when does this setting take place? The pinpoint is Sat Nov 13th, 1993 @ 7:11AM on the West Coast of America aka The EXACT timeframe and region when the ep "Sonic and the Secret Scrolls" first aired. Now before anyone asks, you wont find any references beyond 1993 since its a snapshot of a particular moment of time so the span is between Jan 1, 1990 - Dec 31, 1993. Furthernote, this was that period when Nintendo and Sega were enemies so you wont find anything Nintendo related in a Sega kids bedroom. However, a certain plumber can be found if only a certain hedgehog didnt steal his "spot." Out of anything Ive designed in my 25 year career as a designer, this is the most ambitious project Ive ever worked on and Im very satisfied with the final result. I hope Sonic fans, SatAM fans, Sega fans or just fans of a bygone era who either lived it or wished they did, can find joy from this massive tribute to one of the most beloved eras in pop culture. That being said, list in the comments on what 90s memorabilia you find or recognize. Bonus if you can find ALL the Freedom Fighters or other SatAM goodies. Theyre scattered about as well
