The theme of my latest "Veggie Lady" is cherries, as you can easily see. However, a cherry by itself is quite unspectacular. They are more or less round and small. So what could be more obvious than to bring the cherry blossom into play as well? I don't know about you, but when I think of cherry and cherry blossom, Japan immediately comes to mind. This may be because I have had a love for ancient Japan since childhood. Back then, my aunt had given me a children's book that introduced me to this culture. Since all the pictures in this series are surreal, what could be more natural than to create a kimono out of cherries. On one side 3-dimensional, on the other side flat like a printed fabric. And of course the cherry mouth! I was amazed at how easy it was to represent this fruit as a mouth when you step back a little. This picture is definitely a must have for lovers of old Japan. But beyond that, I have also received a lot of encouragement from people who have a penchant for purple and vintage. I am very happy if this work finds its way into your rooms and makes you dream a little.
