    About this Artwork

JOKER - He is the ultimate villain pitted against the Bat in the DC Universe, and he combines the macabre, the drama, the ‘evil genius’ angle and even the unpredictable – one step ahead nature, with theatrics and design & maybe – sense of humor. He is the ultimate villain pitted against Batman in the DC Universe, and he combines the macabre, the drama, the ‘evil genius’ angle and even the unpredictable – one step ahead nature, with theatrics and design & maybe – sense of humor (who would have thought that someone who jokes & has a permanent smile carved into his face can be the vilest villian)…Here I have not replicated the reference image, I have made my own changes to the image & tried to depict the permanent smirk and gleam of madness in his eyes… A madman laughs and smiles, and we think he has no reason to & therefore he has to be mad; but what if he could see & hear something we cannot perceive…and haven’t we all been given to some tinge of madness & darkness, at least sometimes…if not – I think you might not be of the humankind… And hence the joker might seem to be a great villian, since we could identify ourselves with him at times & the table and tide often reverses, when we see a dark hero standing against him, who is a millionaire (which we r not), and who has his own ghosts of his past houding him- which makes him not so likeable & identifiable to us who are in our self-righteous selves…
